TPMS Sensor Features – At a Glance
A TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor continuously measures tyre pressure and temperature, transmitting data wirelessly to the vehicle’s ECU. It is battery‑powered (5–7 years life) and operates in extreme conditions (–40°C to +125°C) with accuracy of ±5 kPa.
Two main types:

Direct TPMS – uses physical in‑tyre sensors, gives precise individual tyre readings.

Indirect TPMS – estimates pressure from ABS wheel‑speed data (less accurate, no battery needed).
Key specs: pressure range 90–920 kPa (passenger cars), supply voltage 1.8–3.6 V, ultra‑low quiescent current (<0.5 μA). Modern sensors also detect temperature and acceleration, and some support Bluetooth (BLE) for smartphone connectivity.
Why it matters: prevents blowouts, improves fuel economy (by ~3%), extends tyre life, and supports fleet management and ADAS integration.
